Day 5…pretty feet!

Some say there is a big difference between self-indulgence and self-care. Manicures, Facial care, Massages and Mud Baths would come under self-indulgence. Working out at the gym, eating healthy foods and hiking in the woods would be self-care. I am not sure I like a clinical, health only oriented view of Self-Care. I see Self-Care as the process of soothing the soul and healing the body. Maybe that's breathing and meditating, maybe that's bargain clothes shopping. Who can say what soothes your soul? Only you know what brings you peace, that calmness and the feeling that all is right with the world.

I have found that many things that bring me self-care, may bring someone else fear, distaste or boredom. We each are ultimately responsible for our care. Many folks neglect self-care. They put others first, especially women. The problem is without taking time for our own care, we have little or none to honestly and freely give to another. Our giving isn't real or authentic, if tainted by frustration, anger or resentment.

“Don’t sacrifice yourself too much, because if you sacrifice too much there’s nothing else you can give and nobody will care for you.” Quote by Karl Lagerfeld

Wise thoughts, Mr. Lagerfeld. Take time for Self-Care, fill up the glass! You deserve it!

Today, I chose “Pretty feet.”
