Social Media Made Easy.

Social Media can be so stressful and fill us with overwhelm, dread and frustration. You think you need to be on all the major platforms and crank out daily content to succeed. There is so much to do, so many platforms.

Let me share 5 Tips to make social media easy without the stress and overwhelm.

  1. Choose ONE platform to begin. Stay with it daily until you see results. The platform you choose will depend on your business. If you are a dog sitter. Instagram may be the place for you. Lots of cute dog pictures to capture your ideal audience’s attention. Selling your book? Facebook may be the place for you, participate in lots of groups to promote your book. I usually recommend Facebook if you are just starting out. 1.5 BILLION people on Facebook. Your audience awaits.
  2. You gotta have a Plan. Have a daily and weekly plan of content. Schedule as much as you can ahead of time and reduce burnout. Cluster your content into themes each week or month. Be consistent. Having a plan will make it easy to get it all done.
  3. Have a system for posts. Are you using Canva, Relay That, Word Swag, etc. to easily make posts? There are a lot more apps out there you can use. Keep it simple. Use a template(s). Use your brand colors. Use variety in your posts (image, video, live stream, memes, gifs, etc.) Create a system that works for you.
  4. Create engaging posts. Ask questions, use Fill in the Blanks, create polls, post articles, do caption contests, etc. Check your Insights to see what type of posts work best. The posts with lots of engagement, do more of that.
  5. Use curated content. Share your friend’s stuff, share Thank you’s, share guest blogs, share influencers posts and share any mention of you by someone else.

There is the 5 Tips  to make Social Media easier and to take less time.

Top 3 Reasons You Need a Good Lead Magnet!

You need a GOOD Lead Magnet

When you create a lead magnet it’s important to understand why you’re creating it. There are three main reasons to have a good lead magnet.

  1. Attract people to your community, grow your list
  2. Start a conversation and let people get to know you, get to like you and to trust you
  3. Offer your services, programs and products and make money

That’s what you want to do. From their perspective, they want you to provide something of value that solves a problem. So, assuming you create a lead magnet that does solve their problem, then, people will want to get on your list and join the community. But that’s just the beginning. Once you get people on your list you need to start a conversation to build trust, then as you’re doing that you can promote your own products, services and programs AND other people’s products to earn money giving your audience exactly what they want and need.

Let’s look deeper into each reason you need a good lead magnet.

Attract people to your community, grow your list

When you truly know your audience, you can target them in such a way that the people on your list really need and want what you’re offering. You need to know the audience, study the audience, and know what they want. In order not to only create an amazing lead magnet, but to give your audience something of value.

Doing this will build a very targeted list. When you have a targeted list, they’re more likely to open your email and get the message. A lead magnet that solves a burning issue for your audience will accomplish that better than anything else.

Start a Conversation to KLT

Once you get an audience member on your list it’s now your job to give them such good information, such wanted information, that they will open each email that you send to them. When they do open the emails and read them, they’re happy that they did, because the value you provide is top notch and laser targeted toward your ideal audience.

Most successful email list owners set up at least 3-10 emails over a 30-day period, designed to help your audience get to know you, get to understand their problems and to start promoting your solutions to those problems. They don’t sell, sell, sell and they don’t bombard their users with information outside of their laser targeted niche. That’s how you’ll build trust by taking the long road to informing, teaching, engaging and encouraging your audience to act.

Offer your services, programs and products and make money

Earn Money Giving Them What They Want.

As you get to know your audience more, you’ll start understanding what they need. You’ll get to know their problems and understand what problems need to be solved. Then you’ll also understand what’s within your power to help them solve according to your expertise or niche. The biggest trick to doing this is to give your audience what they want.

As you get to know them better through your interactions via your list, and by cross-promoting information about your social networks and so forth you’ll be able to do even better about giving them what they want, through the products and services that you promote, improving your return on investment exponentially.

When you understand the three main reasons of a lead magnet and then match that with your audience’s perspective of needing problems solved, you’ll create a winning lead magnet that gets results for both you and your audience.

Business Burnout! Look for these Signs…

Business Burnout is a very real problem, especially for solo-preneurs. Even though partnerships can have their ups and downs, at least you have someone to handle some of the stress and responsibility. Solo-preneurs are by themselves and feel the entire weight of their success on their lone shoulders. This large responsibility often leads these business owners to work 14+ hour days and lose track of what’s happening at home with their families. But is focusing so much attention on your business a wise decision?

No, not if you want to achieve a work/life balance that makes you and your family happy. Even if you’re single, making time for self-care and relaxation will improve your overall health and mental wellbeing. Let’s talk about the 5 signs to look for that indicate you might be headed toward a burnout.

  1. Insomnia. If your brain can’t shut down because you’re consumed with work, your sleep pattern will get disrupted, leaving you overtired, lacking energy, and lacking the mental energy to make wise business decisions.
  2. Procrastination. Do you cringe at the length of your daily to-do list? Did these tasks once excite you but now they make you want to crawl under a rock? Procrastination leads to missed deadlines and opportunities to promote your business.
  3. Tired or Fatigued. The human body is only capable of handling so much stress on limited sleep. Certainly, you’ve heard the phrase “burning the candle at both ends”? That’s what happens when you work yourself to the bone and don’t give your body and brain enough time to recover before starting another high-stress day.

At some point your body will want to give up, causing severe fatigue and other possible illnesses that will keep you out of your business.

  1. Changes in appetite. For some people, stress causes them to overeat; for others, stress reduces their appetites. Neither extreme is good for your body. For optimal health and mental clarity, take lunch breaks away from the desk and choose natural, healthy food choices instead of fast food items.
  2. Anxiety. High stress causes anxiety, which can cause crippling fear or other physical symptoms. Keep in mind: there’s a big difference between the anxiety you feel when stepping out of your comfort zone versus stress-induced anxiety that doesn’t seem to go away.

Think about this: as a solopreneur, if you are not physically able to run your business, what happens to it? Chances are, you’d have to close your doors and any streams of income you currently have will disappear. And, we don’t want that to happen!

Take care of your whole body, mind, and spirit. Take quiet time to relax. Get outdoors and breathe in some fresh air. Unplug for a whole weekend and live in the moment with your family. Reconnect with old friends. Start a hobby.

I discovered amazing changes in my own business and my mindset, once I started taking care of myself and living my life for me, not just my business.

How to Deal with the Trolls. Smack!

Are you plagued by Trolls? Sometimes you just want to SMACK them, right? Let's talk about how to deal with Trolls.

As you become more popular you’re going to get more people who love you, but also more people who hate you. And, actually they don’t even hate you, they just like to be trolls.

It is important to know how to deal with these types of people so that you can use social media marketing to build traffic, make more connections, and increase your return on investment.

Develop a Policy

If you have many people helping you manage social media, you need to develop a policy. There is a difference between a troll and someone who has something negative to say. Therefore, you want to treat them differently.

A troll should be blocked, and their comments deleted. Someone who is negative might just need some extra attention to turn them around.

Ignore Real Trolls

When someone is a real troll they have nothing useful to say at all and are intent on disrupting a discussion or even an entire business. These types of people may even be paid to do so. You have no way of knowing. The best course of action is to ignore them, delete, and block them.

There is an exception to this rule. If the issue becomes widely known due to not deleting fast enough, you may have to “out” the troll for who they are and let your real audience deal with them.

Make a Joke Out of It

Sometimes trolls and negative people are a little bit funny. It depends on your audience of course, but if you can make a joke out of something that’s a great way to deal with it. For example, if someone asked you what is taking so long for a shipment to get to them and you know you mailed it the day they ordered it, you may need to point out in a humorous way that you have no control over the post office.

Look for The Deeper Message

Sometimes trolls or people who make negative comments are just unhappy people who need something. If you can read between the lines and find a better message answer that message and ignore the nastiness. Killing them with kindness can work very well for getting rid of trolls.

Hire or Get Volunteer Moderators and Ambassadors

When your community grows very large you may need to get help managing your social media to prevent the proliferation of spammers and trolls from taking over your page or community. One of the reasons some big-time coaches have ended their Facebook Groups has to do with poor group management. If it gets too big, get some help.

Build Relationships with Your Community

Have real conversations with members of your community and let them get to know you. Don’t just sell them all the time. When someone is nasty or trolling, report it.

Show the Facts

If it is appropriate, baffle the negative person or troll with facts. If you have facts you can prove with real study and research, you will find that most of your community will value what you are saying a lot more than someone who drives by with some negative info.

Dealing with trolls and negative people can be daunting.  And, if this starts happening take heart in the fact that it is mostly because your community is growing, which is a good thing. Don’t take it personally.

The very best thing you can do about a troll is to not provide a platform for them, delete and block them.

WHAT’S YOUR WHY?

Why do we do the things we do? Why do we change jobs, change careers or partners?

When you first hung out your virtual shingle, you likely were thinking:

  • “I can’t wait to leave this job.”
  • “I just want to be home with my kids.”
  • “This dead-end job is going nowhere.”
  • “I’m tired of working crazy hours and holidays.”
  • “I know I’m worth more than I am paid.”

These and many, many other thoughts go through the heads of every would-be business owner, and are often the driving force behind that final, “I quit.”

But while they’re great for lighting a fire and inspiring you to make a scary jump to business ownership, they’re not so fabulous at motivating you to grow and improve. They won’t inspire you to increase your skills and raise your rates and be brave and authentic in your marketing. They won’t help you find the courage to hire a new coach or launch a brand, new program.

To find the inspiration to make your business thrive, you have to identify the real why behind what you do.

Passionate Whys

“Passion based” is a phrase that’s found a massive following in the past few years and seems to be the holy grail of entrepreneurial adventures. And for business owners with a true passion for their field, it can be a strong motivator.

Some business owners are passionate about a subject, spending all their waking hours learning about the topic. Some are passionate about a market and would do anything to help their ideal client achieve his or her goals.

Whichever type of passion-based business owner you are, learning to harness that passion will help take your business to the next level.

Financial Whys

Maybe you want to retire at 40 to travel the world or send your kids to an elite private school. Maybe you love fast cars, and dream of driving a brand, new Ferrari.

Whatever your big dream, you knew you’d never make it while putting in time at the day job. While everyone seems to go on and on about those passion-based dreams, the truth is there’s nothing wrong with wanting financial fulfillment. Money is a necessary tool. We need it, and the more we have, the easier life is. And wanting more of it is nothing to be ashamed of, as long as you maintain your integrity and authenticity in pursuit of it.

Philanthropic Whys

Plenty of online business owners go into business so they can have more to give. You’ve no doubt heard of—or maybe even know—marketers who use their earnings to fund mission trips, build schools in war-torn, third world countries, and support a variety of charities at home and abroad. Others use the time and freedom they’ve built into their business to volunteer with local hospitals, animal shelters and children’s organizations.

If you have a heart for a cause, a philanthropic why might be the driving force that takes your business to the next level.

To find your own why, consider your biggest dreams. If money were no object, what would you be doing?
